Burnout coaching

For rebuilding clarity, capacity and control when the demands on you have outrun what you have to give.

What it is

Burnout is what happens when the demands on you have outrun your capacity for long enough that your usual ways of coping stop working. It is not weakness and it is not laziness - it is the predictable result of running on empty. Coaching helps you rebuild capacity, reclaim control over what you say yes to, and change the patterns that got you here.

Burnout can overlap with depression, anxiety and other health conditions. Coaching is not therapy or medical treatment; if what you are describing needs clinical support, Tom will say so and suggest you speak to your GP.

How to recognise it

  • You wake up tired, even after sleep, and the tiredness has a heaviness to it.
  • Things you used to care about - work, hobbies, people - now feel like obligations.
  • You are more irritable, more cynical or more tearful than you would normally be.
  • Switching off has become almost impossible; even rest feels like something you are failing at.
  • You keep telling yourself it will calm down after this project, this month, this year.

How the work goes

The first task is to name the real drivers rather than the visible symptoms - which demands are genuinely immovable, which are habits, and which are choices you stopped noticing you were making. From there we rebuild boundaries and capacity in a way that survives contact with a real week, not an idealised one.

Sessions are 90 minutes, one to one, from a discreet private practice in Thame - or at your home, across Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and the wider Home Counties.

What changes

Once the real drivers are named and the boundaries are rebuilt, energy tends to come back, judgement sharpens, and people rediscover a version of themselves they had assumed was gone for good.
